The process of genetic recombination that involves genes from both parents would be fertilization.

The genetic recombination that involves genes from both the parents is called Fertilization.

The fusion of gametes to form a new individual. The combination of two haploid body to form a diploid body is called fertilization. The new individual formed is recombination of both parents. Usually 23 chromosomes from spermatozoon and 23 chromosomes from egg cell fuse to form a diploid body. Fertilization  is required to combine the characters of both the parents and the new individual formed has characters of both the parents.
