(0,5); m = -1 write an equation of the line that passes through the given point and has the given slope

Respuesta :

y = mx +b
y = 5 , x = 0 , m = -1
y = -1x +5
if x = 0, then you already have b. b = y-intercept,
but if not here is how you find it
(5) = (-1)(0) +b
-1 × 0 = 0
b = 5

If you use the slope formula, y - y1 = m ( x - X1) and substitute your points in (0,5) The 5 is substituted in for y1 and the 0 is substituted in for X1. So you get y (-5) = (-1) (x - 0) If you add 5 to both sides, you get the equation. I hope that's right lol
