to have an infinite number of solutions, the lines have to be on top of each other.....basically, they have to be the same line.
y = 3x - 1
-3x + y = -1.....multiply by -1
3x - y = 1 <== this would be ur other equation because if u put this in slope intercept form (y = mx + b), it would be the same as y = 3x - 1
y = 3x - 1
-3x + y = -1.....multiply by -1
3x - y = 1 <== this would be ur other equation because if u put this in slope intercept form (y = mx + b), it would be the same as y = 3x - 1
The equation,y = 3x – 1 has an infinite number of solutions and the other equation is 3x – y = 1. Option C is correct.
What is the equation?
A mathematical statement consisting of an equal symbol between two algebraic expressions with the same value is known as an equation.
Given equation has an infinite number of solutions is;
y = 3x – 1
The equation can be rearranged as;
3x – y = 1
If the equation is rearranged there is no effect on the number of solutions.
The other equation is 3x - y = 1, which also has an infinite number of solutions.
Hence option C is correct.
