Aight so the Bill of Rights consists of 10 amendments that guarantee certain rights and protections to US citizens, therefore (fancy word) limiting the power of the federal government. The First Amendment prevents the government from interfering with the freedoms of speech, peaceable assembly, and allowing to speak about and teach religion. When the US was first created, the system of government was how the government could wield power as needed while at the same time protecting the individual rights of the people by limiting itself at the same time.
