There are two ways for finding p, here is one way:

1/2 = 4p

Multiply both sides by 2:
1 = 8p

Divide both sides by 8:
0.125 = p

Answer:
p = 0.125

1/2 = 4p

We know 1/2 is 0.5

we need to isolate p (It means solving for p)

0.5 / 4 = 4p / 4

4 and 4 cancels out

0.125 = p


OR


1/2 = 4p

1/2 ÷ 4 = 4p / 4

4 and 4 cancels out

1/2 x 1 / 4 = p

{1/4 is the reciprocal of 4}

1/8 = p

Which is also 0.125 = p


OR


1/2 = 4p

2 x 1/2 = 2 x 4p

2 and 2 cancels out

1 = 8p

divide 8 by 1 to isolate p

1/8 = 8p/8

8 and 8 cancels out

1/8 = p

0.125 = p
