A rectangle has length x cm and width 2 cm less
than its length. It has an area of 146 cm².
Show that x² – 2x = 146​

x^2 - 2x = 146

x^2 - 2x - 146 = 0

i think you can just factor it out by taking x out of the left side of the equation
