History
Qutub minar was built by Qutub ud-din Aibak who wanted to show the domination of muslims in Delhi. He possessed the throne of Delhi in the year 1206. He wanted to have a structural form of victory and as a sign of muslim domination in Delhi. So he constructed a tower with a great height which can be seen from the long distances of Delhi showing the power and rule of mughals in that place.
Construction
Qutub minar is constructed as a slender tower which is typically a part of a mosque with a balcony from which a muezzin calls muslims to prayer. Qutub ud-din Aibak began this great construction of victory but finished only first floor. His inheritor Iltutmish who received the throne of Delhi from Qutub ud-din Aibak finished the construction of remaining floors. After that the throne was received by Ferozshah Tughlaq who changed the fourth floor from its original form into two circular forms and with white marbles in the year 1368.

Qutub minar was a great construction which reflects a new art and type of architecture which is well known as the architectural style of Indo –Islamic. The measurement of base of Qutub minar is approximately 14.32 metres. The top of the this monument also almost measured as 2.75 meters
(i)The base of the first floor or storey has a set of grooves in decorating the surface which are circular and alternate angular.
(ii) the second floor is totally round.
(iii) the third floor of Qutub minar has a set of grooves which are totally angular .
(iv) height of the tower is so much that almost 379 steps are to be climbed to reach the top of the minar.
(v) the verses of holy Quran were inscribed on sandstone walls .
(vi) the balconies in the minar are supported by extremely beautiful designs by a tapering structure hanging like an icicle from the roof.
(vii) every floor or storey of this beautiful construction has a very special and attractive designs.
(viii) whole Delhi city can be seen from the top of the minar .
(ix) the stones of this attractive structure are having the gods pictures of hindus on one side and Arabic writings on the other side.
