- hard method
Simple method - just understand the decimal number ; 24.5 can also be written as 24½.
(this method is only for grade 8+ if u use this in lower grades there are chances that you will lose ur marks)
Hard method - (this can be used for grades 8 and below)
So if u want to convert a decimal to fraction first take the number ;
Put 1 as the denominator of any number u want to find the fraction of.
0.36 for example
According to the number of the digits after the decimal point keep adding 0 ;
if u take 0.36 as an example you can see that there are two digits after the decimal point.
(3 and 6)
so u should divide it by 100 because 1× 10×10 = 100
Your first step should be
0.36
------
1
After this multiply both the numerator and the denominator by 100
So,
0.36 × 100
-------------
1. × 100
this is equal to
36
---
100
Next if they ask you to simplify , make it to the lowest term ;
36 18
---- = -------
100 50
You can simplify more if u want ;
9
----
25
Now this fraction is in the lowest form so you can say that the decimal also got converted into fraction and you made this to the lowest form ; you simplified.
