Outliers simply means the data records which are different from every other record. It escapes normality. The outlier affects mean, inter-quartile range, mode and the range.
It should be noted that the median isn't affected by outliers. The reason for this is that the median depends on the arrangement and the order of the data. For example, when one changes the lowest score in a given set of numbers, the order won't be affected.
