The Assyrian and Persian Empires have many similarities because the Persians inherited the Assyrian legacy so they took several practices and functions that the Assyrians had.
Both had a similar military organization - their soldiers were professionals - and had similar agricultural and gastronomic cultures, they similarly developed their architecture, this can easily be seen in the Persian and Assyrian ruins. Both Assyrians and Persians practiced polytheism.
