The theory of continental drift said that Pangaea was made up of all of our continents mashed together. This theory still matches plate tectonics. However, plate tectonics explains that it is not the continents themselves that are moving, but the plates that they are a part of. Over the course of millions of years, these plates broke apart. As they slowly moved from place to place and were created and destroyed, our continents moved to their current locations. The theory of plate tectonics explains that our continents are still moving every year.
