1) When Mark Harrison found himself in an unfamiliar jungle-like environment on touching a mysterious blue light whilst hiking, he was attacked by a animal that looked like a buffalo.
His resilience came to the fore when he instinctively climbed up a tree in a bid to escape and save his life from the charging animal.
Whilst on the tree, he was bitten by scorpion-looking insects who invaded his clothes. Again in an instinctive show of survival, he quickly removed his clothes to avoid the sting of the attacking insects. When he was ravaged by hunger and thirst, he attempted to drink rain water (which tasted funny in his mouth) and actually ate insects for food.
This is a show of resilience because had he not taken those instinctive survival steps, Mark would have been killed by the buffalo and scorpion-like insects.
2) His resilience came to bear again when a tribal community known as the Tsooks captured him from the Arrow community where he lived for awhile, and locked him up in an animal pen.
He dug himself out of the animal pen and escaped briefly from the Tsooks. In a rare display of loyalty , he went back to inform the Tsook community of an impending attack from another tribal community in the jungle village
