What are some similarities between Candy and his dog from Of Mice and Men

Although both Candy and his dog are rather minor characters in Of Mice and Men, they help guide the story along and set a mood. Both Candy and his dog are quite old, and somewhat physically disabled (Candy is missing a hand, and his dog is almost blind and deaf).
