- This shows how he was optimistic and brave even in the face of uncertainty because he was willing to still "Cash this check" signifying that even when the world was oppressive and even when he was spit on he still believed that there was a chance that slavery would be replaced with equality.
"We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force."
- This states that MLK J.R was optimistic and brave because of the sole purpose that even when hurt and abused he was not going to hate his brothers and sisters that mistreats him but instead he was going to smile and shake their hand. He didn't want to walk the same walk as people that where showing hatred by seeking revenge like Malcolm X but instead he smiled at injustice.
