Before the conflict, the protoganist's feelings are desperate, confused and melancholy. After the conflict they are determined, excited and free.

"Condensed Milk" is a Russian short story that has a strong political and social bias. In this story we are introduced to the following elements:

  • A large number of people are placed as political prisoners for not agreeing with the current ruler of the country.
  • These prisoners are treated inhospitably.
  • They are forced to do forced labor, live in filth, with little food and little water.
  • They are constantly beaten.
  • Death is imminent and will happen at any time to any prisoner.

The great conflict in this story is in the prisoners' doubts between trying to escape, not succeeding and being executed by the guards, or not trying to escape and dying little by little in the face of torture that lived in prison.

During the conflict, the protagonist feels very confused, as he does not know which option is worse and is very afraid of the outcome of either. Once this conflict has passed and the protagonist has made a decision about what to do, he feels determined and ready to face the consequences.
