My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie would have to be "A Walk to Remember." It was about an outwardly plain Christian girl named Jamie, and Landon, an aimless, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and popularity. I liked this movie for many reasons. The main character, Jamie was not afraid of letting people know that her faith was the most important part of her life. That was very impressive to me. This movie also showed that it is possible for people to change their ways. Most of all it was a love story and that is my favorite kind of movie.

Jamie was true to her beliefs even though it was not cool. She was as far from cool as she could possibly be, but she didn't care. She was ridiculed all the time by other students. Her beliefs may have costed her some friends but she believed in God and that didn't change. She was very involved in school, with school plays and tutoring.

The movie shows that it is possible for people to change. One night Landon was involved in a prank that landed one kid in the hospital. As punishment Landon had to tutor a young student at school and participate in the Drama Club's Spring play, two activities the principal hopes will teach him some humility. That led him into close contact with Jamie. He then had to ask her for help with his lines in the play. Jamie was the last person Landon was likely to fall for. But, against Landons own expectations, Landon finds himself falling in love with Jamie, who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible. After the two become involved Landon didn't care what his friends thought and being popular wasn't important to him anymore. Landon even stood up to her dad, who was against Jamie even helping Landon out with his lines in the school play, and asked Jamie's dad if he could take her out to dinner one night.

This was a love story.

I'm so glad I got to answer this!

Tbh tho, it'd be quite difficult for me to decide which is my favourite film, 'coz there are so many that I don't even know what to say xD

I could have choosen to write about one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces of all times, but I've decided to go with an unusual one!

"Children of Heaven"

It's a 1997 Iranian family drama film written and directed by Majid Majidi. Never heard of it, right?

That's because it's one of the most underrated classics of all times

Immediately you'll think kids would not be interested in such a movie. You'll need subtitles, and you can't expect from kids to be able to read! But don't worry, the theme of this movie is so universal there is not a child who will not be wide-eyed with interest and suspense.

I'd now proceed to explain why this movie is so dear to my heart. Okay, SPOILER ALERT, duh!!

So basically the story plot is very simple. Let me summarise it for you:

The film is about a boy named Ali, who loses his sister's shoes. He takes them to the cobbler for repairs, and on the way home, when he stops to pick up vegetables for his mother, a blind trash collector accidentally carries them away. Of course, Ali is afraid to tell his parents about the incident because his family is very poor and he knows that his father wouldn't be able to afford a new pair of shoes. But then again,Zahra, his sister, can't go to school without shoes!

They come up with a plan. Zahra will wear Ali's sneakers to school every morning, and then run home so that Ali can put them on for his school in the afternoon. But Zahra cannot always run fast enough, and Ali often got into trouble for being late to class.

And there is a heartbreaking scene where Zahra learns that one of her classmates is wearing her shoes. She and Ali follow her to her home, where they find that her blind father, a ragpicker, had found the shoes in a garbage heap. Zahra solemnly regards her own precious lost shoes, now on the feet of the ragpicker's daughter....which gives you an idea what beautiful and poignant emotions this scene has tried to deliver....

In the end of the movie, Ali learns of a 4-km inter-school race; and the third prize is a pair of sneakers. Ali sees this as his chance to earn a new pair of shoes for Zahra. He decides to participate in it, and come third. But unfortunately, he comes first!! This came as a shock to Ali because he tried so hard NOT to win this race, and he begins to cry. Such is his love for his beloved sister, and I bet that if this scene won't break your heart, I seriously don't know what will.

Ill leave you to watch the movie, and interpret what happens in the end.

In this film,I found a sweetness and innocence that teaches the true meaning of love and sacrifices! So unpretentious, unassuming and refreshing.....

And I must confess(not sure whether it’s okay in a public forum) but I did cry after a long time...

I will stop explaining anymore because we all know these feelings very well - we have all experienced them, we have simply forgotten them - feelings so rich, descriptions can do no justice to them. they can only be felt - I’ll let Ali and Zarah remind you of these feelings and take you on a trip down memory lane when you see this movie :)
