DNA strands are polymer. This means they are made up of lots of different repeating units. Each "unit" contain one to four bases. The bases are known as: C (cytosine), A ( adenine), G ( guanine, T ( thymine). The DNA has two strands coiled up together in a shape of double helix ( a double strand spiral) . Each bases links to the opposite strand in the helix. A always links with T and C always links to G. This is called complementary base pairing. The complementary base pairs are joined together by weak hydrogen bonds.
