Explanation:
The mirror stage is essential for the development of a child's brain. According to Lacan it is in this stage that the child develops a sense of their own self through their body.
Unless the child learns about their own body and what comprises it , it does not have a clear picture of the world as a child can only understand the outer world as something that is not a part of his own self.
So understanding the self is a key to understand the world for a child in developmental stage.
