With their problem of lack of basic music-reading skills he could use step 3, "design integration strategies" in which his students will have to practice those skills in computers, formulating melodies to help them improve his musical reading skills.

Also, with his problem of the composition assignments, he will have to implement step 4 "Prepare the Instructional Environment" in which students will have to be mor ein contact with music through computers (perhaps using music apps) and practice more in this skill.
