An elderly client with high blood pressure has been prescribed a single dose of aspirin for intermittent joint pain but it does not seem to be effective. What is the most likely reason for this?

Respuesta :

Answer:

"As you get older, absorption is prolonged and medications may take a little longer to act than normal". Aspirin in particular shall be given in large divided dose/ day to produce effect.

Explanation:

Aspirin is a blood thinning agent and does not produce strong analgesic action. Hence, it does not reduce intermittent joint pain in elderly patients. Moreover, elderly patients has a slower metabolism and takes longer time and a stronger dose to reduce high blood pressure.
