On Groundhog Day, the kids in Mrs. Black's class listened as their teacher told them the legend of the groundhog.
"The legend goes back many centuries," the teacher said. "It is about the day that the groundhog comes out to look for his shadow after he has been asleep for many days. If the sun is shining and he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. If the day is cloudy and he can't see his shadow, then spring will come early this year."
Jimmy looked out the window. It was a bright, sunny day.
