Kara Wood : Kara is the main character of the Novel. She suffers from dyslexia and is bullied for it in school. She lost her mother a year ago but still hopes she will come back soon. Like her mother, she is a nature lover and is worried about the end of the dredging ban.
Felix : Felix comes from London and is suffering from cerebral palsy. Like Kara, he is also bullied in School. Despite his disability, he is intelligent and helps Kara in the extension of the dredging ban.
Kara's dad (Jim): Kara's father Jim is also suffering from dyslexia and because of this, he is unable to find any good job. He and Kara live with his sister Bev as he is unable to afford a house.
Aunt Bev/Uncle Tom : Aunt Bev and Uncle Tom live in a caravan. Aunt Bev is expecting a baby and is always concerned about the future.
Daisy : Daisy is Kara's cousin and shares a room with her. She's cute and friendly and wraps everyone around her finger very easily.
Jake/Ethan : Jake and Ethan are two bullies who are always after Kara. And Jake calls Kara's mom responsible for his brother's death.
Dougie Evans : Dougie Evans is a very powerful and influential person. He is against the dredging ban. Uncle Tom works for him but he got fired when he signed the petition to ban the dredging.
