if the prime meridian is across the globe which two directions is it faced northern and southern or eastern and western?

The Prime Meridian is 1/2 of a circle. 

Its ends are at the north and south poles, and it goes through a suburb of London. 

The half of the Earth on one side of it is called the eastern hemisphere, and the half of the Earth on the other side is called the western hemisphere. 

"Hemisphere" means half of a sphere.

It's a half circle on the surface of the globe and it is the line that crosses Greenwich in Europe. Hope this helps!
