If an individual becomes "stuck" during shaping (i.e., he/she does not seem to be able to meet the newly-increased criteria for obtaining reinforcement) and frustrated, the trainer should continue to the next step of the shaping sequence. This will allay any frustration the individual is experiencing.
The trainer cannot move on to hte next step until the trainee has resolved the issues they had in the current step. If the trainer continues this will negatively impact the learning process.
