For the equation 6x – 3y + 2z = 12, the value of the y-intercept is -4
Solution:
Given, equation is 6x – 3y + 2z = 12
We have to find the value of y – intercept for the above equation.
Now, we know that, value of y – intercept is the value of y at a point where the line equation meets the y – axis in the co – ordinate plane.
We also know that, when a line meets y – axis, the values of remaining variables becomes 0.
Then, put 0 in place of x and z in equation ⇒ 6( 0 ) – 3y + 2( 0 ) = 12
⇒ 0 – 3y + 0 = 12
⇒ -3y = 12
⇒ y = -4
Hence, the value of y – intercept is – 4
