United States received huge land grants after the completion of World wars. US did not accept any remuneration or paybacks. These huge bountiful lands were allocated for homestead settles and for the purpose of establishing public schools.
The union Government made extensive land grants to enthuse internal settlements, to enable smooth transportation of Goods and Construction of Bridges and canals. The land Act contributed millions of acres of land to support railroad projects.
Transcontinental railroads connecting Mississippi to Asian Continent was the huge project taken up in order to gain international trade. These land grants were having a progressive impact on the commercial well-being of the country.
