and Indian War. But after England's victory, the
British government took actions that seemed very
unfair to the colonists.
During the war, the colonists had fought hard
for the right to settle the Ohio Valley. But King
George III of England now passed a law saying no
colonists could settle there. The law was called the
Proclamation of 1763. The American settlers were
