Bell’s family background affected his career choices. His mother was deaf and his father was a teacher for the deaf. He followed his father’s path to be a teacher for the deaf. Bell left school without graduating at the age of 15. After that, he enrolled at University College London but didn’t finish the study at the end because his family was moving to Canada after his brother’s death.
Bell fell in love with his student, Mabel Hubbard. She was deaf since she was 5 because of fever. Although they had 10 years age gap, they eventually got married and had 4 children.
Bell patented his method to transmit sounds on February 14, 1876. A few hours after Bell patented, Gray filed a patent on an almost identical method. Bell was awarded as one of the most precious patents on March 7, 1876. Both Bell and Gray developed their telephone designs individually. Therefore it was made into the telephone that we use today on a daily basis. There were still a lot of people questioning between the priority of telephone invention between Bell and Gray.
