In the ancient cultures, the number seven was a very important one, and it was mostly seen as a number of perfection and completeness. This is not the case in only one ancient civilization, but it can be found in multiple ones, Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, Israel/Judea, Ancient Egypt etc. This led to a situation where this number has been heavily used when it came to important things, be it something connected with the Gods, with important hings in the daily lives, with the nature, with selection of things.

'Seven' was such an auspicious number in ancient culture. It was because many religions show the number seven is a special or “sacred” number.

EXPLANATION  

 Actually, there is no definitive answer to the problem above. The number seven becomes a lucky number developing by itself. Among the reasons are as follows:

1. The ancient world has seven wonders: there are the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus (now in Turkey) the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the lighthouse of Alexandria, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, and the Colossus of Rhodes as the ancient world wonders.  

2. The Modern World also has Seven Wonders: they are the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in India, the Chichen Itza pyramid in Mexico, the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Colosseum in Rome, the stone city of Petra in Jordan, and Machu Picchu in Peru. This list was determined by global vote and the results were announced on 7 July 2007.

3. The number seven is one of the most frequently mentioned in the Bible. The number seven appears more than 700 times throughout the Bible and 54 times in the Book of Revelation. Scholars say that number 7 shows completeness and perfection. It is stated that God rested on the seventh day and week seven days was adopted by all human civilizations, after creating the world.

4. According to other religions, in the Talmud and Judaism, the universe consists of seven levels of heaven. The Koran also often talks about the number seven. The Qur'an states that the heavens have seven levels. Muslims who make the pilgrimage also circle the Kaaba seven times.

In addition to the 3 ancient and religious reasons above, the following health and scientific facts related to number seven:

1. The optimal number of hours of sleep for humans is seven hours. West Virginia Medical School has conducted a study that produced a finding that the risk of heart disease increased in those who slept more than one hour or less than seven hours.

2. The rainbow has seven colors. Initially, the spectrum was divided into five by Isaac Newton - red, green, yellow, purple, blue - but later added indigo and orange.
