Civic action is the use of political and non political actions to meet goal(s) in a community- either statewide or local (city).
In the case of the legalization of marijuana, civic actions could include: sending a letter to the mayor and/or governor, ensure voting to support bills proposed on the topic of marijuana legalization, voting politicians into office that support the legalization of marijuana, organizing community fundraisers, volunteering, and supporting and/or promoting information containing credible scientific research in favor of legalizing marijuana. These actions are all effective in gaining support and recognition on the topic.
