Paul told the Galatians that they were fools for thinking that if they do good things then God will forgive them because that's not how salvation works when given by God. The way God's salvation works is that he offers grace which is basically undeserved favor to a person and if the person has strong faith in God and accepts God's grace then they will be forgiven. There's no action which you can do to get salvation from God other than having strong faith in him and then he will help you, so Paul called the Galatians, fools because they didn't understand how God's salvation works and they didn't understand that there is no way for humans to become righteous and so that is why Paul called the Galatians, fools.
