The history of cake dates back to ancient times. The first cakes were very different from what we eat today. They were more bread-like and sweetened with honey. The Oxford English Dictionary traces the English word cake back to the 13th century. It is a derivation of 'kaka', an Old Norse word. Medieval European bakers often made fruitcakes and gingerbread. These foods could last for many months.

⋆ 3 eggs [pathways/roads/migration], so the people of the religion know what way to go to spread the religion further
⋆ 1 tsp conflict [vanilla] to give the religion more flavor because the religious leaders weren't enough sweetness, and also because you can't have a religion without a little conflict.

⋆ In a medium bowl, beat [with a mixer] the places to worship [sugar] and trade/trade routes [butter] together until light and fluffy.
⋆ Next, add your religious leaders [milk/buttermilk] to that bowl and mix until well combined.
⋆ Then, slowly add your holy texts [cake flour] as you're mixing. Make sure it is well combined before moving on to the next step!
⋆ In a separate bowl, stir your pathways/roads/migration [eggs] with a fork and add your conflict [vanilla] and mix that.
⋆ Add your pathways/roads/migration to your big bowl and then add your government leaders [vegetable oil] and mix all of that until it's well combined
⋆ Then add your mixture of religion into a big cake pan.
⋆ Bake that cake for 50-55 minutes and when it's done baking, let it cool and then frost it with your favorite religious frosting and you're done!
