Slope-intercept form:

y = mx + b

"m" is the slope, "b" is the y-intercept (the y value when x = 0) or (0, y)

To find the slope, you can use the slope formula and find and plug in two points. The points you can plug in are (-3, 0) and (0,4):

[tex]m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}[/tex]

[tex]m=\frac{4-0}{0-(-3)}[/tex]

[tex]m=\frac{4-0}{0+3}[/tex]

[tex]m=\frac{4}{3}[/tex]

You could have also used this:

[tex]slope=\frac{rise}{run}[/tex]

Rise is the number of units you go up(+) or down(-)

Run is the number of units you go to the right.

If you look at the graph, from each point, you go up 4 units, and to the right 3 units, so the slope is 4/3.

[tex]y=\frac{4}{3}x+b[/tex]

Now you need to find the y-intercept. When x = 0, y is 4, so the y-intercept is 4.

[tex]y=\frac{4}{3}x+4[/tex]

Answer:

y= 4/3+4

Step-by-step explanation:

1. y=m/x+b

m= rise

x = run

b= y intercept(The first point where the line crosses the y-axis, in this case 4)

2. To find m/x you first pick two points on the line. To make it easy try to pick whole numbers. The two points I picked were (-3,0) and (0.4).

3. To find m, which I like to call rise because you are counting the number times you rise from your lower point to your higher point you start at (-3,0) and count how many points it takes you to get to (0,4) along the y-axis. From (-3,0) to (-3,1) that's one. From(-3, 1) to (-3, 2) thats two. From (-3, 3) to (-3,4) thats four points up. This is because (-3, 4) is at the same point on the y-axis as (0,4) and it took for points to get there. So m=4

4. To find x, which I call run because it goes horizontal, you use the same principle that you used to find m except that you do it along the x-axis (horizontal.) To make this easier since we already did the process to get our m we can start (-3, 4) and move to the right until we get to (0, 4). From (-3,4) to (-2,4) thats one. From (-2, 4) to (-1, 4) thats 2. From (-1, 4) to (0, 4) thats three points because we have reached our second point on our line. So x=3

5. y=m/x + b so quick recap

m(rise)= 4

x(run)=3

b(y-intercept)=4

y= 4/3+4

Sorry if this is a little confusing and long but this is the best way I know how to explain it. If you have any questions ask them and I'll explain what I said. This is something that you'll need to know throughout middle school and high school so you need to ask your teacher for help if you still don't understand cuz trust me, it's important.
