If y'all read The Book Thief or is reading it right now, what is Markus Zusak's message about loss of innocence? And give me the quotes w/ citations please!

Respuesta :

The loss of innocence is represented by the character of Liesel who was forced into a more mature and adult role by each tragedy she overcame. However, because of her loss of innocence, is that she found a lifelong friend in Max, the Jewish boy who was hiding in her house. For this reason we can say that Zusak's message is that even though the tragedies of life might take our innocence away, we can overcome and empathize with other people.
