Answer: It was easily defended against attacking forces.

Savannah was established in 1733, and it became the British colonial capital of the Province of Georgia, and later the first state capital of Georgia. Nowadays, Savannah is Georgia's fifth-largest city.

Savannah was selected as a capital because of its history as an old settlement. The colonists had signed treaties with the Creek that meant that the area was quite peaceful. It could also be defended easily.

However, it was not a convenient spot for trade, as the land was high and it made loading and unloading ships difficult. Moreover, the water was quite shallow. It was also located at the extreme end of the colony, which meant that travelling to other areas of Georgia was difficult. All these reasons made Savannah an inconvenient place to establish a colonial capital.
