Benzyl alcohol was selected by a student to crystallize fluorenol becasue the solubility characterisitics of this solvent are appropriate. however, this solvent is not a good choice.
Because as for a good recrystallization, the boiling point of the solvent must be lower than that of solute. But here the the boiling point of benzyl alcohol is higher, so the cooling to form crystals of flourenol will be affected. That is why it is not a great choice.
