ANSWER: The businessmen in London thought that the locals would help the settlers to find Gold and explore local rivers in hopes of finding a way to the East. However, the colonists knew this was wrong. They helped the settlers to build houses and find foods with the help of the local Indians. Still, a huge number of people were dying due to lack of food and diseases. During this period, they found an Indian named Squanto who could speak English. He was kidnapped by English sea captain and served for them before returning to his colony again. He made it possible for them to communicate with the native people. He showed them the best places to fish, what kind of crops to plant and how to grow them. He provided them with all kinds of information they needed to survive. The settlers invited the Indians in November to give a feast for the help that Squanto did. This continued each year and now is known as the Thanksgiving Day in America.
