2x + x/2 + x/4 + 1 = 100

solve for x by first combining like terms.

2(x/2) = 2x/4
2x/4 + x/4 = 3x/4

4(2x/1) = 8x/4
8x/4 + 3x/4 = 11x/4

then, subtract 1 from both sides of the equation.

11x/4 = 99

x = 36 students

The number of students the Teacher has is x = 36 students.
